Question Arrogant Partner

This weekend I had the opportunity to work with some great officials. The only down side was one game where there was an official that was very arrogant. Before the game he didnt introduce himself to me and my partner. During the game he tried to upstage us and would not communicate with either of us. We had a double whistle (in my area) and he yelled at me to "take the damn call." Me and my other partner talked about it during a time out and decided to ignore him and just stay in our primaries. Needless to say he made a call out of his primary during a crusial point and the game and was totally wrong. In short, the evaluator ask me what I saw on that play and I said it was a clean block. Anybody ever had a problem like this?

Your partner did not sound like he was arrogant; your partner sounded like was just a jerk and not easy to work with.

We all have worked with partners that were difficult. You were not the first and you will not the last. You have now officially joined the club of officials.

Peace

Been there, I think most people have had parnters like this. The biggest thing is don't let it affect your game. Just do what you gotta do.

I bet his actions were duly noted on the eval form. All you can do with those typse is try your best and if that fails, keep your head up ad don't let him affect what you're there to do. They won't all be smooth but they can be as fun as you make em.

I'm certainly not disputing or questioning anything you have said. But sometimes I wonder about people like this. Are they really just arrogant? Or are they masking some kind of debilitating insecurity? If it's the latter, is there a course of action that this person's partner could take that would genuinely help the situation, without screwing up the game?

I don't have any answers or theories on this, just looking for other's opinions.

Aside from that, stories like this leaving me chanting Mick's Mantra.

I can't believe he said, "take the damn call" considering you were being evaluated!!! I wonder/hope your evaluator heard that, too.
