Possible intentional foul

A1 has abreakaway layup. I am T. B1 fouls A1 pretty hard from my point of view. L calls foul, but not intentional. From what I saw I may have called the intentional.

At the next break my partner says he should have called the intentional. Is there anything that I could have done at the point of the play (talk to official about possible intentional call, make the intentional call from the L, etc.) that I could have or should or shouldn't have done?

Sure. Come in fast and ask him, "Could that be intentional?" That gives puts it in his head and gives him the chance to say "Yup, you're right!" or "I don't think so".

You see this in the NBA all the time, they get together and make a decision. Nothing wrong with that.

This exact situation is something that I like to include in the pre-game. In this situation, the L is oftentimes to close to the play to have a good perspective on the "flagrant foul" decision. If I'm C or T and I think it's a flagrant, I'm coming strong with the signal. I think it's wise to mirror the flagrant signal - if one has it, then at least two should signal the flagrant. It's an easier discussion w/ the coach ("coach, I understand you disagree with that call, however both my partner and I thought it was a flagrant; you'll get the same call at the other end...").

I'd prefer not to have a conference on this, but if we have to, then OK.

What's the "flagrant" signal?

Arms crossed in an x...... do you guys like to give this signal in front of you (like I do) or do you give it above your head like I have seen some do????

Had this exact same sitch a couple weeks ago. I was T in a two-person game, fast break layup, kind of a hip check on the already-airborne shooter, though not flagrant. Two bodies on the floor - hard. Partner comes out with fist raised, but no "X". I jog in like I normally would, make eye contact, and subtly make the "X" sign, low in front of my chest a couple times to give him the hint. Sure enough, after a few seconds, he signalled intentional. No one b*tched.
