When a player receives his 5th foul, you must notify the coach and then the player. If the coach had not yet been notified, it is not an indirect on the coach.

In this case, it appears the T was called before the coach was notified.

Sorry, thought I had first in there.

If you notify the coach first, before banging him, then yes, it is an indirect.

Which raises and interesting possibility.

Let's say the kid tells you to go get bent. You know you are going to wahck him, but you wait 2 extra seconds to tell the coach it is his 5th. Then wack, it is an indirect.

Unethical, but within the rules?

I think that because the offense occured before the DQ, it shouldn't matter when the T is charged.

Of course, we all know the saying about opinions.

I know I would grin while this thought crossed my mind, BUT I would stick with the "T" before the notification. I believe that is in the spirit of the game AND you do not lower yourself to the same type of conduct. Remain professional.
