Visual Field ...

Just got this from IAABO this morning.

Not a big deal but it's nice to see in writing what most of us have probably been doing forever.

It is important to note that this season, the NFHS is adding to the rulebook a definition of "visual field" as follows: The visual field of a player being screened includes the player’s forward vision and peripheral vision and extends horizontally from each ear. A screener who sets their screen in front of an imaginary line extending laterally from either ear of the player being screened is considered to be within that player’s visual field (NFHS 4-40-3 Note).

Reminds me of taking Drivers Education in high school.

Mr. Klemkowski, who was also my one thumbed wood shop teacher, had a device that measured peripheral vision.

We were always having contests to see who had the greatest peripheral vision.

If I recall, peripheral vision was often about 190 degrees.
