Off-topic: Texas Football ref attack
I first looked on the football forum, but didn’t see any posts which were either recent or about this, so I thought to post it here as I know that several of our basketball forum colleagues also officiate football.
Anyone else aware of this? Comments? https://www.yahoo.com/sports/texas-h...040318666.html |

Read about it last night. The offender is also a champion wrestler. First, that’s criminal assault. It was premeditated and he had plenty of time to change his mind. He should be charged as such. Sports should not provide criminal immunity for incidents like this. Too often they do. Second, I think the result should be a suspension from all sports for the rest of this school year. If the school doesn’t impose that, the state association should step in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If he never plays again that is good enough for me. I did hear about this yesterday but did not see the video until this morning. I would certainly press charges.
Peace

I got home from work last night and this was blowing up my twitter feed. Charges are definitely warranted and how the school hasn't come out and said this kid is suspended from all athletic competition yet is beyond me.

They may not be allowed to make such an announcement.

I have no problem with what they did. It’s a team sport. You know the saying “We win as a team, we lose as a team.”
Well, this time they lost as a team. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Past History ...
If there were unsporting problems with this team throughout the season (maybe just throughout that game), I reluctantly agree.

I saw another video of a coach with the player after the ejection. He walks player (and I mean had to stay right with him) to the sideline. Once there, said coach inexplicably walks away and they player then decides to run on the field. That staff should have had that kid until he was in law enforcement hands or at the least leaving the field of play with an adult.

Perhaps they determined the problem was with more than just that player. Perhaps his attitude was fostered by someone else. It wouldn't be the first time.
