Out of Bounds

A1 scores a basket. B1 on the ensuing throw in passes to B2 who catches the ball in the air and lands OOB. B2 is inbounds when he catches the ball in the air. Is this OOB violation?

We know that B1 can pass the ball to B2 who is out of bounds with no issues.

Thanks!

The famous, ancient basketball official, Confucius, said, "You are where you are until you get where you're going".

Thus, out of bounds violation on B2.

Is This What Al Gore Had In Mind When He Invented The Internet ???

That’s all? One question? One answer?

No discussion? No debate? No argument? No name calling? No follow-up questions? No videos? No citations from multiple sources? No confusion about other rule sets? No delving off topic?

No extremely long boring stories about ancient times from Mark T. DeNucci, Sr.?

Has the Forum become a polite, civilized way of getting questions about basketball rules and officiating quickly and correctly answered?

This seems so easy. I think that it could eventually catch on.

Can it be too boring? Shouldn't it be more fun?

Won't our ratings go down? How will Mark Padgett sell advertising?

With the end of the year only a month away, a reminder to all Forum members to contact Forum Treasurer Mark Padgett to pay their annual dues for 2019. He'll take VISA. Master Card, Discover, American Express, and he recently started accepting Pay Pal. You can also give him your checking account number for a direct withdrawal.

And of course, like any true Chicago native, he'll always accept cash as long as it's in small unmarked bills.

What if B1 didn't mean it to be a throw-in pass, but was just giving the ball to B2 for B2 to complete the throw in? What if the official hadn't started his count because he didn't really deem the ball to be "at the disposal of B1?"

Or, what if it was a designated spot throw-in? A little different answer in that case.

Official gets reprimanded for not knowing that B1, in possession of the ball, equates to the ball being at the disposal of B1.
