White committed two charges before he released the the ball.
And both charge calls are easy calls to make. MTD, Sr.

That was a good "NO preliminary signal" from the lead. Not sure which way he was going to call, but by delaying, it may have avoided a blarge. He was patient and let the center go with his call.

The Center has the best look at the amount of displacement on this play. It is also a primary defender during a drive from above the FT line. This is an outside officials call, not the Lead's. No secondary defender is ever involved in this action. |

I agree that he shouldn't have blown the whistle in the first place.... BUT.... since he did, it was a good job of not showing early, as it may have just compounded the quick whistle.

That was a text book example of how these potentially problematic events should be adjudicated--good coordination between L and C.

If you referee by the words in the rule book you might say the first contact was a player control foul. If you call that a foul regularly you will not be refereeing Kentucky v Georgia...and probably many other places imo.
The second contact occurs opposite side of paint from C. Nothing else happening for the L. I think it was a good job from both of them. C blew and held and saw L wasnt selling so he went with it. Around here, we say blow and hold from the outside simply because we know how hard it is for the lead to lay off when someone is falling at his feet. If leads not selling then C is free to take off with it. Which he did and i agree with call. I dont know if anyone else notices this but when i see plays live, like this, fouls seems pretty clear. Slo mo im looking at it and saying what contact made defender go back like that. Slo mo can play tricks...i think... |

Get the first Charge and you won't have to worry about the game becoming physical. And don't hand me this crap that if you call the first one you won't be calling games at this level. MTD, Sr.

And I'm sure now you are going to tell everyone about your experience ....and if anyone disagrees with you they simply don't understand... Last edited by BigCat; Mon Feb 20, 2017 at 06:02pm. |

There were 3 possible fouls on the play....
1. The initial bump at the top near the FT line. If called, it would be a charge. 2. The defender's left arm far from vertical across the shooters right arm (illegal use of hands). 3. Then the torso contact at the end (a charge).

I might however, be more inclined to get the defensive hit on the arm before the charge.
