The Harlem Globetrotters are in town, playing in an outdoor stadium and filled the game ball with helium. When the official tosses the ball it continues to rise, straight up. The jump ball hasn't ended, so everyone waits.

I began in late 80's and I can't remember ever handing the ball on first shot. I do remember lots of other strange things, fore court, no TO at 4 or 8 second count on throw in/bc count.

87 for me and we weren't allowed to bounce on the second shot my first few years.

I found video of the Illinois HS championships -- perhaps they just handed longer than others. Or time is just a cruel mistress.

Old Days

I have been told that an old days rule or mechanic was not to allow water to players during a 30 second time out - makes no sense to me - but was there such a thing?
