Closely guarded.

The root of most issues is officials working multiple rule sets, but not taking the time to learn rule sets they work.

Correction Needed ...
Private prep schools in Connecticut use NCAA/NFHS hybrid rules. Right now, our prep school guidelines state that closely guarded in a girls game is three feet. I'm going to ask our state interpreter to change three feet to six feet for prep school girls games.

If they goal is to use a mix of NCAA/NFHS, the 3' standard applies to neither.

Basically what I meant in a roundabout way. Only two times I've run into it were officials who had worked a game or two in NCAAw and then wanted to apply it elsewhere.

At a tournament this past summer played under high school rules with a bunch of college officials, I was the only one on the crew counting during a dribble. Until one of the coaches yelled "Where's the count????" on a dribble outside my area.
