Unusual end of game stuff

Not my game, no rules/situation questions here, but worth sharing. V Boys earlier this week. H-1 needs 35 points to reach 1000 for his career. Fans and video stream/radio are keeping a count.

H has a comfortable lead with 41 seconds left in the game. H-1 hits two free throws to make it 34 points on the night.

On the ensuing possession, despite being down a dozen or so points, V stalls. The intentions are clear.

H is looking to get the ball back, so they foul. The first is a common foul, double bonus. V makes the first, but misses the second and gets the rebound. H-2 chases down V-3, but makes no play on the ball. Intentional foul. Coach H complains about the call, technical foul. Four free throws and ball at the division line.

V inbounds and is quickly fouled, commonly this time. V misses the second free throw, H gets the rebound with 20ish seconds left, and goes the other way.

V, still down significantly, double teams H-1, who doesn't get off a shot for the remainder. Team H's next game is away.

This is what happens when some kind of milestone takes precedence over the game itself. I hate this kind of thing. Somebody refresh my memory. Years ago, some NCAAW player was injured lacking two points to break some kind of record. She was allowed to start the game and hobble in for an uncontested layup.

There is no "I" in Team, but occasionally there is "me."

Good for V.

Not me.

H fouling started the artificial nonsense. V has every right to run out a clock down a "comfortable" amount.

The d*ck move was by H in deliberately fouling in order to get the ball back so that one of their players could score more points in a contest in which the outcome was already decided.
H went out of its way to foul multiple times while having a significant lead late in the game. That's not sporting behavior.

Up 12 with 43 seconds left, most teams would be happy to let the other team run out the clock for them. Seems fouling them this case is an equally dick move for H.
