Phillies v. Dodgers Ground Rule Double

Hey guys...not a baseball guy and saw this play last night and was curious on how this is handled and what the rule is:

Revere's ground-rule double

Thanks

6.09 The batter becomes a runner when—
(g) Any bounding fair ball is deflected by the fielder into the stands, or over or under a fence on fair or foul territory, in which case the batter and all runners shall be entitledto advance two bases;

Note that if the gball had (nearly) stopped rolling, then the award would be two bases from TOK -- since it hadn't the award is two bases TOP.

This is the important piece to note. Also an airborne batted ball that is deflected over the fence could be a home run or two base award.

I recall an airborne batted ball deflected off of Jose Canseco's head many years ago.

This play is quite interested if looked at from more than face value.

Love how the clueless annoucers explain how the umpire has to judge whether the runner would have made 3rd if the ball had stayed inside the park.
