CWS South Carolina vs. Clemson
Just watching top of 2nd inning and Clemson R1 was called for interference on slide into 2nd. Great call! I wish I would see this more often. I''ll post a link when I find it.

Well it was pretty obvious. R1 stuck his left arm out to grab F4.

Clemson's coach was arguing that the interference didnt affect the play and it "had not been called in their 52 other games this season." Give me a break. He used that as justification the runner from 3B should have been allowed to score. Correct me if Im wrong, but at the point of interference the ball is dead, right?

In high school, the FPSR violation is rarely called it seems to me. Not only have I observed it, but when I call it, I usually hear the stuff about "No one ever calls that", which probably has at least some truth to it.
I saw two of them in a row on back-to-back batters during a district playoff game this year. 3-man crew, and on the second of the two, R1 went all the way through second base and leveled the second baseman. (FED rules we're talking about not NCAA) Nothing called by U3. |
