You need to immediately stop doing High School games and familiarize yourself with the very basic rules of the game and move on from there. There is nothing wrong with a person that does not know the rules of baseball, this is not a personal criticism of you.

However, you are getting paid to do a job that you cannot do with even a basic level of competence.

I am not sure how you got these assignments but, I can only think of 2 scenarios: 1) an incompetent assignor 2) you were less than forthcoming with the truth about your knowledge and experience.
