FED ejection, Proper or not? (2)
6A -- Oregon's largest Schools -- quarterfinal playoff game.
V Pitcher throws darts . . . is in the strike zone all day. Never misses the zone by much. H Pitcher is all over the place -- has HIT four batters. No warnings have been issued. Game is 1-0 Home in sixth inning. H hits a Grand Slam . . . NEXT pitch goes behind the head of the next H hitter. PU immediately ejects V F1. Any comments? T |

The penalty for unsporting conduct is ejection. FED 3-3-1 PENALTY says that the umpire MAY warn before ejecting, but a warning is not required.
The umpire obviously judged that the pitch was intentional. I won't second guess that. His action was within the rules.

If V-F1 has been on target all day, I think I would be doing the same thing. It's pretty tough to loose control like that, especially after a grand slam! We cannot allow this stuff in HS ball - MLB okay but not in amateur ball.
As far as warnings go, it's not like OBR where both benches get warned, in FED, only the offending F1's team gets a warning.

I hate the FED rule about warnings for throwing at batters. In this situation, if you warn the V F1, aren't you effectively giving the H F1 a free shot at one of the V batters since you haven't warned him yet? I guess you could go ahead and eject the H F1 if you know it was intentional, but the H coach is going to go nuts since you warned the other team. This is why in the OP, an ejection seems fitting IMO.

Warning. If V pitcher is throwing darts all day and throws one behind head of batter he did it intentional, if wanted to hit the batter he would have. Had a dart thrower hit batter in head, eject, behind the head, warn, especially under circumstances (no warn to other team).
What I don't understand is how H pitcher is all over the place, hit 4 batters and team only trails 1-0. And how did dart throwing shutout pitcher end up with bases loaded? I probably 3000 miles away, but opinion woud not change if closer. Last edited by DG; Tue May 31, 2011 at 09:51pm. |

And its for his own good, cause guess what is happening if he gets up to the plate himself again. Try filling out that paperwork... |

When it did, ejection. State quarterfinals, no one wants to put runners on base so I can see why there were no warnings for the home team F1 even though he was all over the place and hit four batters. Now if its two teams with a history of bad blood etc., then that's a different story ... Thanks David Last edited by David B; Wed Jun 01, 2011 at 12:25am. Reason: spelling |

But before the pitch behind the batter pitcher, catcher, and head coach confer Warnings are issued to both benches V HC then tells Pu to ~"pull up your skirt" V HC was then ejected |
