I think I would go there. Fans don't exist 99% of the time but never verbal FI.

The FED definition of spectator interference does not rule out the possibility of verbal interference. Since FED explicitly includes verbal interference and obstruction for the players, I wouldn't be surprised if verbal spectator interference were also a legitimate category.

I agree that it would have to be something extraordinary -- beyond 99%.

One could also argue that with as explicit as they tend to be, the fact it is not mentioned is just as telling.

Announcer positioned behind home plate, about 10m, on a PA system, speakers aimed at the plate. He decided it would be kewl to call out "Batta, batta, batta saaaaaawing" on every pitch. I warned him twice then called VINT EJ the HC who refused to do anything. Later found out it was his idea.

Kindly park supervisor came and pulled the juice which ended the whole, sordid affair.

I am not calling fan interference unless someone reaches over a fence and interferes with a player trying to field a ball near the fence and I have never seen that in a FED game.

Verbal fan interference is a big stretch, even for FED.

I'm thinking the only way I call verbal int on a fan would have to involve an airhorn at very very close range.

I would think it would have to be so egregious that it practically calls itself. Your example would be one to consider for sure.

Never seen an airhorn at a baseball game. I think they are very popular for soccer, or so I'm told.
