Is this just your gimmick or is there a reason to wait more than a few seconds to make a call?

You've got to wait for the TV camera to swing over to you.

The technical term is "fake timing," Brian.

it's just a gimmick of mine, i like to take my time in making a call. Mostly to prevent making an out call only to have a fielder drop the ball. I just wanna be "satisfied" that it's an out and then slowly call the out since it's so obvious. I'm also somewhat slow on my strike calls, I learned my timing from Tim McClelland. As Bill Klem once said: "it ain't nothing till I call it"

I like to gear my game so the players get most of the attention.

If the call is obvious, why would you need to wait so long to be satisfied? Make the call and move on.

If F5 guns it to F3 to beat a slow BR by 25 feet, I'm signaling an out once F3 has possession and then I'm getting back to A for the next play. Game on.

Jeez, you mean Father Time?

His strike zone I could see adopting, but not his timing. Better to get your timing from Thing, not Learch.
