As They See Them Book

I know it has been mentioned in other posts, but I am too computer illiterate to do the search thing. This is an amazing book that should be read by all.

Outstanding read. Perhaps Peter Gammons should take the time to read about the dedication and desire umpires have.

Funny, I am on the last chapter and was going to post here about it in the next few days. I agree, a good read. It's nice to see somebody enter Umpireland with an open mind, and really try to understand it to its core, and come to the conclusion that we all know - it's a whole different deal on the field than it is in the stands.

What's interesting to me is we're the likeliest audience to read the book, and we're the ones who best understand what it takes. The audience that should read the book, namely the sportscasters and writers, most coaches, obnoxious fans (specifically baseball daddies who's Junior can do no wrong), and the general public will never pick up the book, much less even read an excerpt or two. They'll continue along their merry, ignorant path.

I finished it in less than 48 hours. Outstanding. My favorite part: when the author goes to Jim's school. "FIX IT!"

I thought it was interesting that Evans was the only one of "the two" who responded to him. I have had the same experience in attempting to communicate with the two. Note: My inquiries did not involve rule or rule interps.
