Funny, I am on the last chapter and was going to post here about it in the next few days. I agree, a good read. It's nice to see somebody enter Umpireland with an open mind, and really try to understand it to its core, and come to the conclusion that we all know - it's a whole different deal on the field than it is in the stands.

What's interesting to me is we're the likeliest audience to read the book, and we're the ones who best understand what it takes. The audience that should read the book, namely the sportscasters and writers, most coaches, obnoxious fans (specifically baseball daddies who's Junior can do no wrong), and the general public will never pick up the book, much less even read an excerpt or two. They'll continue along their merry, ignorant path.
