Shin Guards with the NB plate shoes

I have the NB plate shoes but need to get new shinners. The ones I own now don't fit quite right, too short, and don't ride the best on the shoes. I have the +pos double knee (either the Al Clark or Brinkman edition, can't remember, the writing has rubbed off).

I want to make sure I get a pair that are good, and possibly fairly similar to what I have now, but I don't want "ankle wings"

Anyone have suggestions to what would sit well with the shoes and still stay "hidden"

I have a really nice, nearly new pair of Douglas shin guards, the 18 inch model. They are fantastic protection, fairly lightweight for mobility, and don't look unsightly with high top shoes. PM me if your interested. They have less than 20 games experience. I no longer umpire, so I guess I can part with them. I really love them!

If he doesn't want them, I'll take them, Steve. Zach needs to get his own gear and quit pilfering mine.

I have the Douglas shin guards too, but I found a pair even better for me. Cooper hockey official shin guards. If you have a used sporting goods dealer near you, I urge you to try on a pair. Best ten bucks I've ever spent on gear.

Of course, YMMV.

Okay Tim, if I don't get a response from eagle 12 they're Zach's. I have a V-Sport 17 inch CP available too if you like. Since you're my buddy, I'll give them to you for next to nothing. NEXT to nothing

Regarding the ankle wings, I use the NB high tops now after avoiding them for years due to this exact issue. I use the Carlucci shins. During the Major League camp last year in Compton was told by a MLB umpire "just tuck them in your shoes, that's what I do." And I have ever since.

Isn't that V-Sport the one you bought new last year?

I bought a pair of Honigs K-20 from Brian Curtain who posts here regularly. I've used them with the GD patent leather hi-tops and the Spot Bilt hi-tops. What I found was cutting off the wings and metatarsal guard sections of them has them fitting perfectly snug against the top of my shoes. Of course, your mileage may vary.

I switched to hi-top shoes this year and found that tucking the shin gaurds into the shoes works great.

I second the K10 from Honigs with the NB plate shoe. I don't tuck them in, and don't have eagle wings, either.
