 This is not a travesty of the game! If you call time and call him out, you had better be ready to eject the coach also.This is stupidity on th offense and the defense if they let themselves get involved. By the time these boys have gotten to this level they should know how to play the game. Ignore this type of behavior and let the runner be part of a DP.
