Reinstated force?

this play actually happened in an independent league game last weekend.

Runners on 1st and 3rd, 2 outs. Line drive hit hard down 3rd base line, 3rd baseman dives for the ball that is fair, ball bounces off his glove and dribbles into foul territory, his momentum carries him with the ball. Runner on third scores, runner on 1st advances to and touches 2nd, thinking the ball was caught the runner that was on first starts back to 1st thinking that this is only the 2nd out. The defense seeing the runner off the base tag him for the third out....
The discussion between the 3 man crew was whether the run scored or not?

once he retreats past the base he was forced to, the force is reinstated.

R3 does not score

Similar but different...

R1, hard grounder to 1st (easy DP ball). F3 fields, R1 retreats to 1st and gets to bag before fielder can tag him or the bag.

a) F3 steps on bag, then tags runner. (obviously 1 out, R1 remains)

b) F3 tags runner who is on base, then steps on base (2 out correct? R1 forced to advance and is not protected by the base?).

Seems clear but I just wanted clarification.

Yes.

Yes because R1 is not entitled to first since it is a force situation (exactly what you said).

You talk about an explanation to a coach. They do not understand the basics. Get ready for the EJ's. Imagine this was the supposedly tying run. You as the PU cancel the run, hand the baseballs to the home coach or at home plate and head for your car.

Do you think you would be followed?

That's why you make certain you get paid at the plate before the game begins (unless the assignor pays you similar to HS) because plays like the aforementioned do happen and are not 3rd world and the last thing one needs is to track down the coaches to get paid.

Preach on, brutha. Recent game, R3, 2 outs, bottom of 7th, offensive team down by 1 run.

D3K, ball dribbles away, while F2 is scrambling for it, R3 crosses the plate safely, THEN F2 throws to F3 for the putout.

Oh, what a fun conversation I had with the OC when I waved off the run and the game ended on that note
