Why do you care how far back the batter is standing? Tell the catcher, NO.

I assume that the 1b rat was grousing about your zone? If this was his first remark then I would not respond to it, but I would let him know I heard it by staring a hole through his hollow head.

A second remark would earn him a one way ticket to the parking lot.
