New plate position

Saw a weird one this weekend. It was a 9u kid pitch, but the umpire set up on his hands and knees with his chin almost touching the catcher's shoulder.

Not our game, so I commented that it was different. He explained the kids were so small it was the only way he could see the zone?? Appeared to me he was getting them right, but looked stange.

If McClelland were a few inches taller, he might have to drop to all fours behind the plate...

Are you sure it was a human calling the game? It might have been his seeing eye dog doing a little recon for him!
