I think this would protect the front, top, side and back of my head.
I also think that it would provides a better field of view than any baseball or hockey helmet.
I also think that if you redesign the face mask for baseball, it would provide significantly better protection for my lower jaw, neck, and spine.

Would you allow umpires to wear a similar redesigned baseball helmet if it provided better protection overall?

Only if they were A & M helmets.
