Appeal granted/denied?
I'm having a brain fart here.
R3, R1, 0 outs. R1 is off on the pitch. B3 hits fly ball to LF. R1 is passed 2b and retreats back to 1b but misses 2nd, not grossly. Ball goes home and R2 retouched and makes it to 2b safely. This is "last time by" and appeal denied, correct? Or am I having a brain fart and this is a valid appeal? TIA

It's last time by, because the R1 touched 1st, and then 2nd when returning to 2nd base. Because the runner corrected his error, no appeal can be honored. I might get an argument from the defensive manager, but I would say that the runner touched 2nd base after fulfilling his requirement to retouch 1st on the caught fly ball.
