Question on R2 mechanic

Ok speaking NFHS, I was trained to not mirror the R1's signal on a net serve, show the point toward the team but don't show the net signal, still not sure why, the whole cause I didn't see it I don't get...(was watching the recieving side and didn't see the fault I understand....but if I'm doing my job right I don't see 2 hits either and I mirror their signal for that but that's another topic) but my question is that is the only signal that I do not mirror correct? Example if a serve goes out of bounds untouched, I mirror the out call correct?

Yep as R2's we mirror every signal sequence except the net serve.

Dave, as an R2, we do not mirror the net serve, nor most signals relative to a serve (foot fault, 5 second call), the change court signal between non-deciding sets, and, of course, red and yellow cards.

Ok thanks everyone I appreciate it! Does anyone know the reasoning behind this? I understand cause the book tells us not to....but I found an old saying long ago that holds true for me:

Tell me and I will forget,
Show me and I will remember,
Involve me and I will understand!

If I understand why something is the way it is it sinks into my thick skull a little better.

Dave, it is primarily due to the specific duties of the two officials - R1 & R2. As an R2, we are responsible for observing the receiving team. therefore, we do not do signals having to do with the serve. Hope that helps.

Well put McBear,

The R2 does not mimic beckon for serve either.
