violation or not?
The 2nd hit by the receiving team travels towards the net. A player from the receiving team is near the net expecting/hoping that it hits the net inorder to play a 3rd hit. The ball is still on the receiving teams side and above the net. The projected path of the ball will carry it over the net. Prior to the ball breaking the plane of the net, an opponent reaches over the net to block the ball down onto the floor. Violation?
This 2nd hit was not an intended hit to travel over the net. |

If the ball would have definitely cleared the tape AND the team is not making a play on the ball, then they have had an opportunity to complete their attack. Legal penetration/block.
Intent of the directing of the ball doesn't matter at all.

+1, and that is pure judgment on the part of R1 in this situation. You will see one coach complain on this call either way it goes.
