Center line violations

Interested in the USAV ruling. I understand that a hand or foot may be completely across the center line and touching the opponent's side of the court, provided that there is no safety concern. However, my understanding was that if any body part OTHER THAN a hand or foot contacted the opponent's side of the court, it was a fault. Safety was not a consideration.

This past weekend, I was told that my understanding was incorrect. You can be sitting with your butt completely on the opponent's court, and it's not a fault unless there's a safety hazard.

Can somebody set me straight?

This is from a PAVO rules difference document:

97. Crossing the centerline

NCAA: Players can touch opponent’s court with feet
or hands, provided some part of extremity is
on or above the centerline. Players may also
touch the opponent’s court with an entire foot
or hand or any other body part(s), provided
the encroachment does not present a safety
hazard, does not interfere with the opponents,
and some body part is on/over the centerline.

USAV: Players can touch opponent’s court with feet
or hands, provided some part of extremity is
on or above the centerline. Players may also
touch the opponent’s court with an entire foot
or hand or any other body part(s), provided
the encroachment does not present a safety
hazard, does not interfere with the
opponents, and some body part is on/over
the centerline.

FED: Players can touch opponent’s court with feet or
hands, provided some part of the extremity is on
or above the centerline. Contacting the floor
across the centerline with any other part of the
body is illegal.
