Batter scores on D3K
Anyone see the ESPN highlight of the Mississippi State/Florida State game? 0-0 game, Florida has a runner on 2nd with 2 outs, batter swings at pitch in the dirt. Catcher catches ball on bounce and just flips it back toward the circle as the team is running off the field. One of the other players then realizes the batter/runner is now starting to run and throws late to 1st. Mississippi coach then comes out and calls the rest of the players off the field insisting it was the 3rd out. Batter/runner seeing the team walk off the field now jogs around the bases and scores.

They kept switching camera views so I dont know exactly when the runner on 2nd scored, but both runs scored. They cut the replay right after the 2nd run crossed the plate with the Mississippi coach marching toward the plate umpire. Would have loved to hear that conversation.

I am not sure what the coach is going to say.. the ball clearly bounced to F2s glove. Obvious U3K.
I did not see in the replay is BU giving a safe signal after the strike signal as per the NCAA mechanic? Is the def coach going to say PU failed to call the U3K and therefore took away the defense's opportunity to make the play? |

In this case, the batter took several steps toward her third base dugout, then took off for 1st base.
