Walk off HR but didn't touch home

Wow!

Briarwood Christian’s Morgan Reed – a Notre Dame commitment – blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to give the Lions the apparent win, but Reed jumped over home plate into the arms of celebrating teammates.

Shelby County catcher Jaselyn Harrison saw Reed miss the plate and appealed to the home plate umpire, who ruled Reed out.

/end snippet and insert my own commentary.

Shelby County would go on to win 4-3 in the ninth. From talking with tournament workers, the PU got it right.

Cannot tell since you did not provide the score and number of outs prior to the pitch.

The score was 3-1 bottom 7 two outs. The appeal was the third out and that run was disallowed, making it 3-3. Mine wasn't a question as the PA announcer and a couple others told me they saw the batter/runner miss home plate. There were some UPSET Briarwood fans. But I tip my cap to the PU for getting the call right, knowing it was going to start a fecal-storm.

Didnt Lisa Fernandez miss the plate on a home run back in the 90's against I think it was Australia? If memory serves it cost the USA that game.

Dani Tyler missed home plate on a home run in the 1996 Olympics, causing Lisa Fernandez to lose a perfect game against Australia. I was in the stands between home and third, and you could see from there that she missed home.

The PU, IMHO, did nothing that is worthy of a cap-tip. He made the required call based on what happened. How the fans react is immaterial to me.

I would tip my cap to the catcher for having seen the infraction and making the appeal.
