Dropped bat hits fair ball-
Since day 1 I have been told "bat hits ball-batter out", ball hits bat-Nothing. I was challenged to find this in writting. ASA 7-K-2 is great for the ball hits bat part, but ASA 7-6-I doesn't cover it. Please help with the rule concerning bat hits ball. I have also been challenged that the bat hits ball would have to be intentional for an out.

Quote:
7.6.K The batter is out when the batter hits the ball a second time in fair territory. EXCEPTION: When the batter drops the bat and the ball rolls against it..... That should be all you need. If it doesn't meet the exception, it is INT.

Someone told you wrong. No intent is required.
