Funniest Damned Thing!!!

Was calling men's slow pitch last night. One of the players is a recently retired MLB pitcher. He comes to bat in the first inning. Takes a called strike. Next pitch is flat so I stick my left arm out and say "Illegal pitch". Batter turns and looks at me but says nothing. He proceeds to get a hit on the next pitch. Next time at bat the first pitch comes in quite high and I again give it the IP call. He turns and looks at me again and says "what does that mean?" with a confused look on his face. I say "I'll explain it to you between half innings". After three outs he comes over to me and and with teh same confused look says "what does 'Illegal Pitch' mean?". I say, "I'm sure you not used to that where you come from..." and proceed to explain to him why I called it illegal and what it all means.

The look on his face during his second at bat was priceless!!!

I read that but can't think of anyone nor find anything online. AL/NL? Team? I know you respect his privacy and I won't actually say his name.

Al

I'm sure you'd recognize his name!!!! And you're right...I prefer to maintain his privacy. Afterall, he doesn't even know I posted a story about him.

I just learned that a relief pitcher who played mostly in the southwest retired. Maybe it's him.
