It looks like the umpire is wearing shorts. I bet Gene would have a fit; he doesn't say much, but when he does you had better listen. I would not want to make him upset!

I stopped wearing shorts years ago, even in league play. I just don't like how it looks on an umpire.

I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

Gene had a fit when I allowed my umpires to wear shorts for a 64 team 8u coach pitch tournament back in the early 90s. I cant even begin to imagine what his reaction would be for something like this. The ASA ballbag the dude is wearing is a nice touch. I really think he went onto the field looknig like that)

But I would question, does wearing shorts with full plate gear, make one any cooler? I wouldn't think it would make much a difference.

It didn't even reach 100 this past weekend Trooper. Although I think the heat got to that coach.

Try working an AAU Boys' 16U Baseball National in Cocoa Beach, Florida, during the first week of August. The temperature is in the lower 90's by 9am.
