Tenn @ 'Bama

Just got interesting.

Goofy play by F4 draws what the talking heads (and maybe correctly) believe is a questionable call.

Then U1 late getting to the plate on rotation and made a call on a play while still hustling into positon.

Call was correct as catcher was out of position and didn't apply tag until runner was on plate, but it just didn't look great.

So, question is:

If running late on rotation, do you give up getting to the correct position knowing you will not get the best view or the play, or do you deviate to ensure a strong visual and call?

I think this happened not too long ago at a National. U1 made the call from fair territory, and despite making the right call, s/he got chewed out.

Look, if you blow the starting position, you blow the starting position. That's done. Get the best angle you can get to see what you need to see, even if it's "wrong." Make the best, strongest call you can make with authority. That way, even if the coach knows you weren't in the correct position, at least you had a good angle on the play, and be damn certain of the call.

Expect the $hit-storm from the coach, grin, and bear it.

After the game, STFU, and nod your head as your UIC rightfully chews you out after the game. Learn from it, and don't do it again.

I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

Exactly. If you know you screwed up, you know you screwed up. Suck it up, move on.

What was the deal with the base ump and Tenn's firstbasemen? Caused some kind of discussion. Talking heads said she obstructed the base runner returning to the base

It appeared to me she was warning her for intentionally blocking runner's view of the pitcher's release.
