Well.....I finally got one

Ran my first coach last weekend. 14 years in Basketball, no one even comes close. 6 months of SB and BOOM, out he goes....

Coach was ranting (by my observation justifiably) about a put out at 1st base that was the 3rd out. As soon as my partner rang the girl up who appeared to be safe by 2 steps I sad to myself.....crap. Here we go.

Traveling from 1st base CB to 3B dugout......"you guys suck...bunch of jacka$$es..." Your gone coach -tell it to the bus driver! It was a college exposure tourney so I felt bad for the girls that he was acting like that. I'm sure it wasn't his first trip to the parking lot though.

Oh well....now that milestone's past I've gotta get me one in B-Ball!!!

When they want to go, you've got to allow it to happen.

If you're an umpire, then you ought to know better than to ask that question.

It's never what they say. It's how they say it.

Even if you agree.

Yeah, well... Just because you boned up a call doesn't mean a coach has the right to be disrespectful towards you. Period.

I don't get disrespectful towards a coach when he screws up and gets his team crushed, do I? Hell no.

Im a newbie umpire, just wanted to know someone else perspective on tossing players/coaches. You always hear commentators for pro sports say so and so said the "magic words" and got tossed.

As a player, I never swear at an ump, although if a call was really bad I may use a curse word for effect, like "you gotta be sh*ttin me"

on a side note, the best one I ever heard was in a baseball game, ump calls strike 3 on a ball that was at the batters eyes, the batter says a bunch of things among them was "bring you dog to the game next time" intimating the ump uses a seeing eye dog.

Magic words for me are (amongst others) anything questioning my integrity and trying to intimidate me through scheduling.

That'll more than likely get him ran.

"Gladly! He's a Doberman, loves eating (I mean meeting) coaches, and is certainly better-behaved than you. See ya, coach!"

You are operating under the delusion that it is a reciprocal street. It's not. It's a one way street. The coaches can make all the coaching errors they want. However, we can not make any!
