One thing you can do to get by until you get the latest rule book is to search online for rule changes for the years beyond the year your book was published. I've seen the changes on many different sites.

just call balls and strikes outs and safe. Runners cant lead off.. they can leave on the pitch. Dont read some rule and run out there to enforce it... which would probably be incorrect anyway.

Forget the rest til next game.

Well showed up for my first game last night expecting to do 12U where the questions that I asked and things I was worried about might have been relevant to find an 8U game. No big deal except that I hadn't gone over the 8U rules and wasn't completely clear on what they were.

Talked with both coaches and got the basics down. Played the game and I think all the girls had fun and everything went nice and smooth. Hopefully the next game will go as smoothly.

Again guys thanks for the help and I'll make sure to come back if I have any more questions.

Someone has 8U umpires?

Did you torture kittens in a past life or what did you do to deserve that?

Sheesh...at least it wasn't a t-ball game. I can't believe there are places in the country that use umpires for t-ball and machine pitch game.
