Had an odd play- need some help--

I am actually glad I asked about this play. At the time my head was swirling with 'what-to-do'.
I got a pass with the ball hitting the top of the dug-out
But to be honest, at the time, I would have called the runner out. It just looked sooo bad. (i know that isnot an excuse)
