While the origianal question was about a National tournament, I have seen requests honored in local tourneys.
However, the old school way back when I started doing my first Nationals in the 80's was to ENSURE that the ump who had an ejection WOULD see that same team again in the tournament if at all possible. The old school philosophy was to show the teams who was in charge, AND to show that the umpire truly was impartial and didn't hold a grudge etc. It really did work and made the point that the teams didn't get to pick and choose who worked their games. For the ump, it required that you put your attitude away and work that much harder to have a good game.
