Swing and a miss ...... or not!
Had a situation in ASA coed slowpitch (lower skill level). Pitcher pitches a legal high pitch and batter swings way too early with a long looping swing and misses ball but the follow thru of the bat goes behind his back and across plate hitting ball just before it hits ground. Ball is hit fair and rolls by pitcher to second baseman.
Ruled it a strike and no one said anything other than to just chuckle at wierdness of this play. Out of curiosity I looked in rule book after and found nothing relating to this. Could this have been ruled a hit...ever?

I just rise up, hold my arm 90 degrees from my body, bend the elbow, make a fist, and do my best to keep from laughing.

Dave I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views! Screw green, it ain't easy being blue! I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again. |
