OK, was it fair or was it foul.

Sure looked foul, naturally TV people stated lot of different things
about glove over foul ground and feet in fair.

That was one which the umpire needed to be on the line to be sure and we all know there was no way the PU had any time to move into a good position. I also have no doubt that from her position it definitely looked fair.

Of course, is may have helped if the BU stepped inside the line instead of bailing to the right.

At least Kruk got it right about where the glove hit the ball determining the ball's status.

After just seeing another angle replay, I agree, GOOD CALL.

After replays, slow motion and frame by frame on my TIVO, I think that Linda got it right. But, it was so close. And fast.

Yes, FAST, VERY FAST! She had zero time to get out and get a look down the line. Wasn't sure if she had to compete with the catcher for a look, but there was no way she was going to get a good look.

Thought she blew it until they showed one angle...seemed from a camera view near the first base line looking towards the ball/glove. Looks like it clearly came off fingers of glove. How she saw it I don't know, but good call.

3B umpire wasn't going to be able to help her...he was running scared!

BTW, did anyone notice the first base umpire's DDB signal for OBS at the plate on 'Bama's lone score?

I noticed it. My thoughts are it was called because the runner's stride was impeded rounding third base by F5.

I didnt see a formal warning issued to her the coach of her team and I sure didnt see it written down by PU.... obs while rounding is a warnable obs(the call is made but then you issue a warning) the second time it happens there is a base award.

I noticed it. My thoughts are it was called because the runner's stride was impeded rounding third base by F5.

If the 1B ump was at home plate, the runner rounding 3B would have been PU call, not the 1B ump. The obs signal would not have been for rounding 3B.

Well, any umpire who witnesses OBS can, and should, make the call.

However, I believe it was on the catcher. She was up the line a little and in the base path. Not sure, but is seemed as if the runner was "forced" to slide early to avoid a collision.

It was the home plate umpire that made the OBS on the plate. Runner had to slide between the legs of the catcher.

She held that arm out for an eternity. No warning need be issued as it wasn't a rounding/returning.

If thats the situation that it was called on.... but MichaelVA2000 thought it was on the rounding third which in that case would be warnable but since no warning was issued it must have been for the catcher

Are you sure? Could have sworn I was looking at a male and I don't remember seeing a mask in the extended left hand.
