Interference?
Will do my best to describe the play. No interference was called. The base umpire went to his partner but do not know what he asked him. Do not know what base umpire told coach other than probably explaining why no interference was called.
Play NCAA game Bases loaded. Batter hits a hard two hopper to the second baseman. The second baseman fields the ball with her two feet parallel to the base line, (probably within a foot of baseline), sets her feet to throw home, moves arm and hand behind body and head to throw and when she does this the runner advancing from first runs into her arm. Second baseman does not throw the ball to home or to first. Coach thought it was horrible no call. Anyone have any idea why no interference was called? My first impression when I looked at the BU going to the PU was that he did not see it but do not know that. The ump is in my association so at the next general meeting (March 30th) I will ask him about this play. Ron |

It sounds like an interference call to me also.
The only reason that I can think of for a no-call is that F4 did not attempt to compete the throw (from the description of the play). Some umpires will not call interference in this situation because the defense did not follow through with the play.
