Exam Questions #30FP & #32

ASA 2008 Exam

Overall I found the test fairly easy... I'm not looking for answers but if you could help me think these through, I had a little trouble with them.

#30.. I might be thinking this one through too much.. in my mind thats how just about everyone throws and it is legal..but the wordings of the answers are giving pause..

My answer is A - legal since she didnt past the hip twice... but I'm worried I'm missing some trickery.

What am i missing???? (if anything)

#32 has me absolutely stumped..

The play is easy, I got OBS, B5 gets either 1b or 2b, and the R1 & R2 scores..

But that is not the question.. the question is, what does PU do.. I dunno, stand there praying my BU knows the rule comes to mind as to what I'm probably really doing..

If I'm plate umpire, I am expecting that that is going to be the call.. I'm not sure I'm necessarily in need of a conference, but it could happen, depending on how BU reacts.. certainly I would hesitate since I'm expecting the proper call to be made on the DDB.. I shouldnt be the one calling DB at the end of the play...

So help me think!

Thanks!

Per our Fed clinician: For those taking the NFHS softball test on line, the questions will be vary by user logging in. If you take the exam twice, your questions will be different on exam II.

Question 32 was discussed at length earlier on this board...

For question 30, ask yourself this: where in the ASA pitching rules does it talk about "times past the hip"? Answer that question, and you'll have your answer to the question.

Thanks Dakota, I'll go looking for the thread ( I take a few winter months off to give you guys a break from me ) For 30... I feared some trickery, since the description was pretty much the way every pitcher throws... almost too easy to be true kinda thing.

ummm

OK..

so what the heck????

LOL!

That thread is my thoughts and why I posted this question tonight, no one had the answer on that thread!!!

I absolutely MUST score 95% on this exam, I cant let it go with "it could be this one or that one".

Ok so I retract my previous statement and dig out that answer sheet and just give me the dang answer THEY want... we all know whats up on the play and I think we've all done our time on OBS debates. I've earned it I think!

This is true. We never have come up with a satisfactory answer for 32.

After readingthe Q again, I concluded it is a typo and "d" should be "all of the above"

But one thing that I have learned about the ASA test, don't ever conclude or assume something where they are concerned.
