NSA vs. ASA
OK gang, just wondering, besides the obligatory tournament rules (12, 10, 8 runs after 3d, 4th, 5th innings respectively) and 1:30 time limit, what are the rule differences between these two associations??

In NSA we wear white shirts and black hats.
NSA on deck batters can use either circle. No jewelery in youth NSA. No casts No wheelchairs Dead ball for removing helmet and out Only catcher and 1st may wear a mitt Pitcher cannot use a white or gray glove NSA still mentions "above batter's head" 2 EPs, no DP/Flex, up to 11 may bat DH in NSA One offensive conference per inning, penalty strike on batter 0ne defensive conference per inning Coach ejected for unreported sub(Youth) Illegal sub, coach and player ejected. Out if at bat, do over choice if defensive play is made No rule for one foot in the box Ball on batter for quick pitch Pitcher must face the first batter Altered bat, batter and coach ejected Cannot walk or hit batter to get to vacant spot, if so out is nullified CR can be last out or player not in game OBS in rundown, runner gets lead base Double 1st base is different Pitcher must have ball in circle for dead ball appeal Fake tag is ejection

How about BR carrying bat to 1B?
Last I did NSA, it was an out. Also isn't there a difference in runner hit by fair batted ball while in contact with base?

NSA does not address the batter preventing a pitch from entering strike zone. **EDIT** Rule 8 Sec. 9k....When the runner is in contact with the base, and is hit by a batted fly or ground ball in fair territory(unless he/she intentionally interfers with the ball), the baserunner is not out and the ball is dead. EFFECT- The ball is dead and all runners advance one base if forced.

Since a particular game was not indicated, let me ask this of a SP game.
At one time, there was a rule in SP that if there was a caught fly ball on the 3rd strike in foul territory, the ball is dead, the strike out recorded and, obviously, no runners could advance. Is that still the case? Never understood the reasoning behind it, but it was rules like that which was one of the minor factors which drove my team away from NSA tournaments.

Rule 9-1w...The ball is dead when a foul ball is caught and the batter has 2 strikes. I've never really looked into of the NSA slo-pitch rules. All of the SP around here is ASA.

Abel on 3B. No outs. With 2 strikes, the batter lines a ball down the 3B line and Abel takes off for home. F5 dives across the 3B line, catches the ball, and steps on 3B for the . . . oops, strike 3 and Abel returns to 3B. Every code has its dumb rules, but you have to wonder what somebody was thinking.
