				Oregon State ASU Game

Can someone explain what happened in the Oregon State/ASU game on ESPN2 this afternoon. I missed something but a batter that had flied out was called back to the plate with a 1-2 count after some kind of illegal substitution by the defense. As usual, the announcers weren't able to explain it, at least while I was listening.

I didn't see it, but the result sounds correct. If an illegal or unreported sub makes a defensive play, and it is appealed by the offense before the next pitch, the sub is ejected, and the batter returns and resumes the count prior to that pitch. It had to be the fielder who caught the fly, in this case.

I was watching the game, but apparently missed this play. (I was switching back and forth between this and the Rangers/A's game.)
