ASA SP courtesy runners?

Doing a SP ASA Co-ed game when the defensive team (after that 1/2 inning) tells me that the other team had put in a courtesy runner for their catcher. As I was working alone, didnt notice, no one asked or said anything at the time, so I asked that team about it. They said new ASA rule allows a CR for catchers and pitchers, but I ruled that it wouldnt be allowed anymore.
I understand the reasoning in fast pitch or baseball- catcher putting gear on(time saver), or saving a pitchers arm (stay warm ect) but SP?--figured that team was trying to pull a fast one and said No way!
Another ump said later, he heard it may be true. Comments?

Must be that brand new rulebook that we haven't seen yet.
Good call in not letting them use it after you caught it. Unless you have a local rule used by your league, there is no CR in ASA coed play.
