SP co-ed question

Our first game of the season was good, we won (16-11). I pitched good ball for my first time pitching ever. This week we got spanked (20-6). The Umpire (at the beginning of the game) drew a line in the dirt at the pitchers plate (wasn't like this at our first game) and said I had to be behind it when I startedto pitch the ball. I could step over as I pitched. It threw me all off wack. I know that is a weak excuse, but it was unexpected and I couldn't pitch like I did the first game. I was nervous I'd start over the line and my pitches were all over the place.

Anyone tell me how to beat this the next time we get this ump?

Where was it and what on earth was this
line supposed to represent ?
If the pitching rubber was not at the correct
distance, then maybe that's what happened ??

I agree that is the only I could think of. However; Nasty, there is nothing wrong with asking for an explanation from the umpire. A good one with always be glad to explain why.
