Suppose to be a JV/varsity DH with partner showing up for the Varsity game. This is basically the first playoff game for these 2 teams.-win you are in, lose there is no next Wedsnesday for you. . Rivalry dating back to California gold Rush.They usually got it all. Announcers , between 100-150 fans , double senior day etc....I show up and JV/Var are warming on adjoining fields. Coaches changed it to play at same time. HUH, i call assignor, who finds another ump to hustle over. Then coaches want one ump for each game. So away we go....RANT ON
i am doing V. I learned how important angles and positioning are. I hustled, i used solid 1 man mechanics and still felt like I missed some things. One F1 threw a riser,a hard riser, lots of check swings that i had no partner for help on. There is nothing like making a call on runner stealing 2B, with the runner on 3B making a dash for home. Hottest day of the season so far-mid 90's.
Batter bunts, F2 pops out down the line , before I can get an angle the ball squids back into the field. i got nothing cause i can't see through the F2
. Runner out at 1B. coach wants R1 returned to 1B for interference. i got nothing . I ask F2 after my decision and she says the pitcher bobbled it and thats why the ball squibbed back towards the pitchers circle.
The game of the year for these two established and decent programs and they neglected to tell the assignor of the change. AWWWW

All in all i thought i did an okay job all things considered.
