Hi,
If A Runner On 2nd Is Stealing 3rd Where Should The 3rd Basemen Position Herself?someone Is Telling My Daughter To The Right Of The Bag With Her Foot Pressed Up Against It With Her Left Foot,and Then Swipe At The Runner.or Should She Straddle The Bag? Thanks Billwjd |

1. I can't really vision your scenario. Is it the base umpire's right or the plate umpire's right, when you say, "To the right of the bag"?
2. This is an umpiring board, so coaching techniques might not be eveyone's interest. 3. From a rules standpoint, I can tell you that a fielder not yet having received a thrown ball, cannot position herself in a place that would obstruct a runner.

You don't want her inside where there is a risk of injury from the sliding runner.
I like one foot outside the bag and the other behind (toward the OF). Most important - in a good position to accept the throw and make a good sweep. Also, she needs to be comfortable and provide a good target for the catcher. |
