Speaking Fed [/disclaimer]
A courtesy runner for the pitcher or catcher can enter for them any time they reach base. By rule, this is not considered a substitution. Now, a CR can later enter the game for another player as a sub, but then they lose the ability to be a CR for the remainder of the game. Hope this helps PS: Thats why I've been too leery of using a baseball/softball stat program. It might not understand all the nuances of the game, such as the CR rule as you've pointed out with your software. I use an excel template. More manual work, but at least it's ina format _I_ like and the coaches tolerate.
