I experienced that, too - of course.
But I was lucky: I was training before the season's start in a friendly game, in a ballpark near home. I simply stop the game and tell them to go on for a while... 'I'll be back in few minutes'.
After that it's not enough for me to have another pair in my bag: I asked my aut (very good at sewing) to enforce the seam in that strategic point....
BTW it's not worst than a very bad call at home-plate in the 7th inning....
